0% commission, on purpose: how creators get paid on the Claws marketplace

Commission is 0%. Not "0% for your first few sales," not "0% before fees." When someone buys your template, you are the payment beneficiary directly, not Claws collecting the money and forwarding you a share. The only thing that comes out is payment processing, roughly 3-5%, the same card and transfer fees any online seller pays no matter who they sell through. This applies the same way whether you're selling a template or a skill; the rate doesn't change based on what you publish.

A sale happens, and the checkout runs with you named as the beneficiary from the start, not as a downstream payout.

• A 7-day hold begins. This covers the refund window; if a buyer refunds within it, the pending payout for that sale is simply cancelled.

• Once the hold clears, the sale becomes eligible for payout in the next weekly batch.

• Payouts go out weekly, batched together, once your balance clears a $10 minimum.

  
  

Every sale gets its own record too, amount, processing fee, payout status, so you're never guessing where a specific sale stands in that sequence. Nothing about this requires you to chase anyone or guess when money is coming. The schedule is the schedule.

Why 0% isn't a promotional rate

A rate that low usually means one of two things: it's temporary, or it's made up somewhere else. Neither is true here.

• Trust-tier vetting (Unreviewed, Scanned, Verified, Official) builds buyer confidence in what you publish.

• Three layers get a skill there: an automated scan the moment you publish, a sandbox run that checks what it actually does, and a human review at the end. None of it blocks your first sale, an unreviewed listing goes live immediately, the badge just catches up once review clears.

• Reviews compound the same way. Buyers leave a 1 to 5 star rating, and installs get flagged as verified when the reviewer actually bought the item, so a genuinely good template builds a real track record over time instead of resetting with every sale.

• Ranking is retention-weighted. Templates that keep running for the people who bought them rank higher than templates that just get installed a lot and then abandoned.

All of it is Claws' incentive to keep the marketplace healthy, which is a more durable reason to keep commission at zero than a launch promotion would be.

What you can actually publish

Templates sell free or at $19 and up; skills sell free or at $5 and up. Either way, you keep everything except processing.

• Publishing a template is a four-step flow: Details, Pricing, Preview, Submit.

• Publishing a skill follows its own version: Details, SKILL.md, Pricing, Submit.

• Your creator profile carries a bio, an avatar, and social links, next to the same stats a buyer sees before trusting you with their money: total installs, published items, average rating.
